WUSME at the WORLD WITHOUT HUNGER Conference

WUSME attended the World Without Hunger Conference held from 5 to 7 November in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The three-day long event consisting of solution-oriented technical sessions, an investment forum, and a high-level political forum was co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the Government of Ethiopia, with technical assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

On the occasion, Mr. Michele Orzan, WUSME Ambassador in Austria, attended the Conference on the invitation of UNIDO ITPO Shanghai as Member of the relating delegation, by virtue of the fruitful collaborative relationship developed over time.

As a result, on 6 November, Mr. Orzan attended the Side Event on “Bridging technology and investment: The ITP network’s approach” aimed at showcasing the pivotal role of UNIDO’s ITP Network in advancing a world without hunger by fostering technological innovation through global investment.

The panel featured presentations by Heads of various UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (ITPOs), highlighting specific strategies and successful initiatives that have led to collaboration across continents—particularly in industries that align with the objectives of the World Without Hunger Conference.

Participants were left with a set of actionable recommendations for engaging global investors, governments, and local stakeholders to drive investment into projects that bolster food security and sustainable development goals (SDGs). These solutions will focus on accelerating sustainable agricultural technologies, improving infrastructure, and fostering collaboration that will help ensure food security in vulnerable regions.

During his participation, Mr. Orzan remarked: “The private sector is the ultimate responsible for the third P of the known PPP acronym indicating People/Planet/Prosperity.The prosperity needed for world without hunger depends on a fair compact and an ethical collaborative partnership between SMEs and big businesses. With both players ensuring a fair distribution of duties and benefits, the whole society can enjoy a dynamic, flourishing and peaceful future.”
