
WUSME at the COP30 Side Event on the Role of SMEs
WUSME participated in the official COP30 Side Event in Belém, Brazil, on November 18, along with other organizations. Speakers included Jacopo Bencini (EUI Carbon Markets Hub), Simone Borghesi, and Stefano De Clara (ICAP), who presented the latest developments in carbon markets, from emerging international agreements to the role of offsets in emissions trading systems. In the second part, moderator Robert Tippman brought together participants from Korea, China, and WUSME. Suh-Yong Chung (SILA) analyzed the mechanisms of Article 6 within the Korean NDC framework, while Yuyuan Weng (Tsinghua) illustrated the evolution of the Chinese ETS, now active in four sectors and expanding. President Barbara Terenzi (WUSME) represented SMEs, highlighting obstacles and opportunities for a more equitable access to carbon markets and WUSME’s role in supporting enterprises. The Side Event recorded high participation, confirming the growing interest in more inclusive, effective carbon markets capable of generating concrete benefits for sustainable development.
