WUSME at the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women
On 16 March, WUSME took part in a side event organised on an initiative of the Union of Hungarian Women, together with FAO, on the occasion of the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70). The event, entitled “Justice, Rights, and Women’s Leadership for Inclusive Societies”, brought together representatives from governments, civil society, the private sector and organisations.
Barbara Terenzi, President of WUSME, outlined the issues addressed by the WUSME Permanent Commission on Social Issues and Women’s Entrepreneurship – as set out in the written statement submitted to the UN for CSW70 – concerning access to justice, economic rights, and leadership opportunities are deeply interconnected and indispensable for women’s full participation in both economic and public life.
The event featured a rich exchange of perspectives from several partners, with contributions from FAO’s Senior Gender Equality and Social Protection Advisor on the International Year of Women Farmers 2026, insights from the European Parliament, and presentations on women’s entrepreneurship in Europe.
WUSME reaffirmed its attention to advocating for women entrepreneurs worldwide and to building the enabling environments and networks they need to thrive.
