WUSME at COP31: Side Events and Exhibit confirmed
Side Event and Exhibit proposed by WUSME at COP31, in association with Partner Organizations, have been officially confirmed.
The Side Event will take place on 17 November with WUSME as lead applicant and in collaboration with German Emissions Trading Association (BVEK), the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF), Indalo Inclusive South Africa NPC as Co-applicants, to address “From Commitments to Action: Agrifood MSMEs, Bio-Economies and Carbon Markets for Resilience”. The panel will bring together speakers and experts from the Partner Organizations and their international networks. WUSME will focus on the growing importance of SMEs related to this field.
The Exhibit will take place in conjunction with the Side Event from 16 to 20 November in collaboration with the National Council for Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Public Leadership (NCCSD) and the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI). The title will be: Showcasing integrated climate solutions: from climate-smart farming, adaptation, biotechnology and seaweed cultivation to renewable energy, circular economy and green mobility delivered by small and medium enterprises and farming communities across the value chain. The Exhibit will also be a space and moment for WUSME to welcome international Delegates, share insights and discuss opportunities for collaborations.
This year, thanks to the important exchanges WUSME has developed with China, WUSME has been invited to take part in a side event at the China Pavilion on 19 November titled “Jointly Building a Global Green and Low-Carbon Supply Chain”. The event is guided by the Department of Climate Change of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment and hosted by the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. It will bring together government departments, international organizations, industry associations, research institutions and leading enterprises. The discussion will focus on mutual recognition of data, interoperability of standards and mutual trust in information, themes of direct relevance to the SMEs that WUSME represents.
