WUSME at the National General Meeting of Confartigianato Imprese marking the 80th anniversary

At the invitation of Confartigianato Imprese Rimini, WUSME took part in the National General Meeting of Confartigianato Imprese, held on Wednesday 28 October 2026  in Rome, to mark the eightieth anniversary of the Confederation’s foundation.

At the opening of the Assembly, Confartigianato received the announcement it had been awaiting for over forty years: Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that the reform measure amending the framework law on craftsmanship would be approved by the Council of Ministers that afternoon, alongside the Budget Bill. For President Marco Granelli, this is the result of a historic battle to bring the rules into line with a profoundly changed world of production.

‘The world has changed profoundly over the past 40 years, and today that legislation is a straitjacket,’ said Granelli, emphasising that the reform must ‘enable craft businesses to grow stronger, innovate and create jobs, without being forced to give up their status, their identity and their vocation’.

Reform is a priority, but not the only one: wars and geopolitical tensions are affecting businesses through energy costs, prices and uncertainty over orders.

The Assembly was also attended by TV presenters Carlo Conti and Federico Quaranta, underlining the link with the world of Italian craftsmanship.

Also present was Mr Ivano Spallanzani, WUSME Senator and former president of CONFARTIGIANATO Imprese for several terms, a long-standing supporter of craft businesses in Italy

The reform of the framework law is ‘one step along the way’: it is in the areas of credit, energy costs and regulations tailored to the size of the business that collaboration between associations such as Confartigianato and international networks such as WUSME can make a difference
